Utrecht, 24 February 2026 – De Orde van de Minderbroeders Franciscanen in de Lage Landen has sold the La Verna city monastery in Amsterdam Nieuw-West to a social enterprise, which will use the property for student accommodation.
La Verna is an urban monastery with a distinct social function, where the Minderbroeders Franciscanen have been dedicated to serving the neighbourhood and its residents for many years. It comprises a functional complex of approximately 1,300 m², situated on a plot of approximately 1,850 m² of freehold land.
The property is situated at Derkinderenstraat 82 in Amsterdam Nieuw-West, an area undergoing development within a mixed-use urban context, where residential, social amenities and other functions are increasingly converging.
